The Week Gone By

I worked from home Wednesday and Thursday as my building was having fire alarm inspections. They gave three days on their letter which noted I had to have the dogs ‘secure’ so they could enter the apartment. They came Thursday so that meant I could work at the office on Friday. The pups were not happy boys when the alarm would go off which was about every 15min and on Tuesday they seemed to go off 3 times in 5min in 15min intervals. It was awful.

I need to call the vet this week to pick up Elvis’s 2 more months of Heartworm meds. They weren’t sure what size he was going to end up and so only gave me 4 months of meds back in May. Sometimes I think that there should be some medicare supplement plans you can sign up for when it comes to animals and drugs because they sure ain’t cheap!

And now I leave you with Elvis saying hello:

Lazy Me

So supposedly I am suppose to receive, sometime this week, another letter of tentative occupancy for my condo. Who wants to wager that they’ve moved it from December 17th to late January or mid February? Anyone?

I really need to get my act together and really start purging my apartment. No sense moving things I don’t use or that will end up trash there. Before I know it, time to move will be upon me and I will still have an apartment full of stuff I don’t use and no place to put it in the new place.

To do:

  1. Take photos of items to sell on craigslist
  2. Go through office desk drawers and get rid of the bazillion of pens/highlighters
  3. Go through TV stand drawers and do same
  4. Clean balcony, couch and garbage bags to downstairs trash
  5. Go through already cleaned storage room and go through boxes this time
  6. Purge kitchen cupboards
  7. Curio cabinet to go to Bobby, Pam or Lisa, email Bobby first
  8. Clean inside of car
Tackling the Storage Room

I woke up this morning to dark rainy skies and lots of wind. A perfect day to do some heavy cleaning. I opted first to go get a coffee and a muffin from Tim Hortons :) I then tackled the bathroom, parts of the kitchen and the storage room. The storage room is huge (first two photos, one left side and the other is right) and you could not walk into it (no exaggeration!). I started creating piles: donation, garbage and keep and started slowly emptying the room.

I’m definitely not done (as can be seen in the last photo). My brother is moving from army barracks to an apartment so I told him he could have my table and chairs (4) since they definitely won’t fit in my new place. So I started clearing off the table and cleaning out the kitchen.

Tomorrow after work I will continue my cleaning and purging but for the remainder of the day I am going to veg with my pups.

Tackling the Bedroom Closet

This week I got it into my head that I have to start decluttering and going through my storage room so that when I move I will be only moving what I need/use. I went to Walmart and bought an everfresh™ Heavy Duty Laundry Sorter as I usually have more laundry to do than just a basket and it is hell lugging it down to floor 2 to the laundry facilities.

In order to get it into the closet to use, I decided that I needed to put into storage those clothes that I have no chance of fitting into within the next 6 months or so. I am not giving them away, I will get back to my size 9/10s! I also went through my clothes and only put to storage those items I would wear and if I haven’t worn it in a while, it either went to a donate pile depending on its condition or to the garbage pile. I had bought two, under the bed clothing bags but they don’t fit under my bed. So, the plan for them will be to go into the storage room, once I get that cleaned out.

In my closet I had a large plastic shelving unit that was over 5ft high and about 3-4ft across with 4 shelves. It was used to hold current and old sized clothes and was packed. It is currently in the livingroom waiting its new home in the storage room…when I tackle that.

That room…looks like a hoarder lives in my apartment. I’m dreading tackling that poor room!

Apt Gym

I knew my apartment complex had a gym but for some reason I just assumed they had only one treadmill, an elliptical and maybe a set of free weights. Needless to say I was quite surprised when I was walking Bruiser around the complex and caught about half a dozen treadmills, half a dozen ellipticals and few recumbants. I guess I should check out the building’s gym! Having been here for almost two years, I should have done this a long time ago.
