Petawawa Weekend

So this Labour Day weekend I decided to go up and visit my Dad and my brother. The drive up to see them was awful as it took 2 hours to get Oshawa which should have only taken 40-45min tops. My 5 hour drive turned into 6.5 hours. Now, I don’t mind driving but I don’t think the dogs were impressed. Neither would lie down in the car and by the end of the trip Bruiser’s patience with Elvis was coming to an end (Elvis likes to lean on Bruiser).

We spent 2 days with my family and then headed back home. The boys this time decided that sleeping was top priority though of course Elvis had to make it interesting. First he decided he needed to sit and lean his head on me to sleep. Then he decided Bruiser was not another dog but a bed. I was really impressed with Bruiser – I’m not sure how I would deal with someone who decided I was a bed.

Smart or Dumb?

I have an iPhone 4 and I love it. I had an iPhone 3G prior so I really notice a speed difference on of the phone. I like that it can take HD video and takes really great photos and it has basically replaced my digital camera. Before switching to the iPhone last year I did read a lot of cell phone reviews. I wasn’t sure if I really needed a smart phone and did I really need to be able to surf the web with it?

The answer is yes! When I was in line waiting to buy my iP4 I was able to search out other stores in case I was not the right number in line to pick up the phone that day. When I was at Petsmart last weekend and realized that ‘moving to another location’ meant they had nothing, I quickly launched Safari and found the next nearest Petsmart and then entered their address into mapquest mobile and off I went listening to the phone tell me to turn right or turn left when it came time too.

I will also be using it to get me to Petawawa next weekend as I head to visit my Dad and brother. And I know…that if I do get lost, I have my phone to save me.

My 3G? Going to my brother – he’s very excited and I am excited for him :)

Christmas Shopping?!?!

So who has started their Christmas shopping? I will be honest and say that I do it all last minute so I am quite floored by those who start basically on December 26th. A co-worker and I were talking about our weekend that had just passed and she noted she had picked up some gifts already for the holiday season.

This year the pups and I will be heading to Petawawa to join my brother and my father. I will be renting a vehicle as I don’t think Buttercup could handle all the snow they get and besides…I’d like to arrive with my life. Oh…and with gifts. If you put me and the dogs in Buttercup with our bags for a couple of days – there is no room for anything else.

For Dad this year I am thinking of using online printing services to create a photo book for him of family. And i think I may do one for me of Bruiser and Elvis; a small coffee table book for the new place.

But um…I won’t be doing any of this shopping, even if it is online until at least November!

Foyer Idea

I still have the curio cabinet…seems Discount wanted to rent me a smart car. I drive a smart car and wanted to rent something bigger in order to bring the smart car up north to my brother and bring the pups along with me. So I still have the curio. I am replanning the visit to happen during the September long weekend.

I found this photo of a foyer and I love the open, airy look of it.

Until I actually get to see my foyer, I don’t know how open it will be (or bright and airy for that matter) but I wanted to save the photo for reference.

Supposedly letters were mailed out last week for the last half of the building with new occupancy and PDI dates. I’ve yet to receive anything…

I’m glad I can be a pretty patient person (at least in some areas of my life).

Making Lists Work!

The curio cabinet is leaving this weekend with me as I go and visit my father and brother in Petawawa. I rented a car as poor Buttercup is not big enough to carry the curio and my two pups.

I leave Thursday (I booked Friday off a while ago) evening and come back Sunday and that gives me one day to myself (Monday is a stat here).
