The Scam That Is Insurance

Part of my to do list before I move into my new Condo in December (or January as the case may be) is to lower my cost of living and my debt. In March I started looking at my insurance company and seeing if I could lower those payments. I may drive a a smart car but that doesn’t mean I should have to pay more! June is my first month of lower insurance payments :) I switched companies after getting a $798/year lower insurance quote. May was my double up payment (first/last) and June I will be paying $73 less than month for my home and auto insurance :) That makes me happy!

Auto Insurance Woes

I read DSLR reports, a forum mainly for broadbrand but their is also a Canadian forum on it. This week someone posted that their insurance went up $500 for two cars for the year. Another poster provided a link to a site that gathers quotes for you based on your information (no not kanetix) and so I tried it. I could save close to $800 by switching from AXA to RBC. I will also be asking them for a home insurance quote, well apartment insurance quote since I don’t own…yet.

I’m hoping the quote was accurate as there is NO reason for me to be paying over $200 a month for insurance. It would be exciting to save almost $70 a month!

smarts All Around

My boss and I had lunch last week to review my work list and as well just talk as we hadn’t done so in a while. We went to Panera (yum!) which is just down the street. When we pulled in we parked beside a pretty modified smart car. I know that Brabus is a big dealer in mods for my car but I could swear he had some Ferrari parts on it as they didn’t look typical at all.

When we were done lunch, we came back out to that smart gone but another parked across from us heavily wrapped for Boston Pizza which is the restaurant beside Panera. They also had a heavily wrapped Mini too.

I still like my bright yellow car the way she is. Buttercup will soon hit 10,000km which is not bad considering she is 16 months old. That is her in the photo…doesn’t she look like a dinky car? I took it peering out of my boss’s office window at Christmas time.

I’m CoCo for Coconuts!

Coco matsI was showing my date the inside of my car last night after our 3 hour conversation at Williams Coffee Pub. Most everyone is interested in my car as I drive a smart and he was not unlike most. He commented on my car mats which didn’t come with my car. I purchased them online and they’re made from coconut husks.

My mats look like this photo except the red is yellow, which of course matches Buttercup’s outside. Coco mats which is what they are called, are suppose to trap the dirt and help it sink down to the bottom of it the mat so they look clean all the time. It works..though it does have some problem with dog hair but that cannot be helped.

I love my mats :)

Buy A Smart…Save Money!

I’ve been looking at area rugs on craigslist to replace the one I threw away because of Bruiser’s markings and not being able to completely clean it. There have been some good deals and some not so good deals ($500 for a 8×5 wool rug??).

I am afraid though he would mark this one as well which is one of the reasons I haven’t picked one up, the other being…I’m not sure if it would fit in my car. The smart car is helping to curb my spending habits, lol – who’d have thunk it?
