The curio cabinet is leaving this weekend with me as I go and visit my father and brother in Petawawa. I rented a car as poor Buttercup is not big enough to carry the curio and my two pups.

I leave Thursday (I booked Friday off a while ago) evening and come back Sunday and that gives me one day to myself (Monday is a stat here).

Lazy Me

So supposedly I am suppose to receive, sometime this week, another letter of tentative occupancy for my condo. Who wants to wager that they’ve moved it from December 17th to late January or mid February? Anyone?

I really need to get my act together and really start purging my apartment. No sense moving things I don’t use or that will end up trash there. Before I know it, time to move will be upon me and I will still have an apartment full of stuff I don’t use and no place to put it in the new place.

To do:

Take photos of items to sell on craigslist
Go through office desk drawers and get rid of the bazillion of pens/highlighters
Go through TV stand drawers and do same
Clean balcony, couch and garbage bags to downstairs trash
Go through already cleaned storage room and go through boxes this time
Purge kitchen cupboards

Clean inside of car

BP Oil Spill

I saw some videos today of some pretty saddening environmental issues that have popped up in the gulf because of the BP oil spill. One shows Pensacola beach which is known for it’s white sands having washed up black gooey oil marring it as well as what appears to be boiling/bubbling water where the water and oil are mixing. Another was a video in Louisiana after a rain storm and you can see that the storm was able to pick up not just water but oil in it’s rain clouds and rained it on down.

I wonder how BP plans to make this better. The seem to be all about the capping and capturing the oil but what about the oil that escaped? When will clean up start?

Stretch Mark Creams?

I have a friend who is pregnant. I love looking at her growing belly, amazed that there is a baby in there. It seems that this pregnancy she is growing a lot faster than her first one and is looking for a good stretch marks cream this time around. She says she came outout almost unscathed from her last pregnancy but fears for the worst this time around.

I used to have a lot of stretch marks on my belly, though from weight gain, not a baby. My way of removing them? Tummy tuck! But um, I don’t think I will recommend that to her. She’s bound to bop me one.

I was doing some receivable collection today and ended up talking to a US client. We were talking about work and benefits as well as stat holidays. Our benefits are paid for by work which I pay nothing for. Her employer offers North Carolina health insurance too except that she pays close to $500 a month for her family of 5. That is a car payment or 1/2 a months rent! Wow…I’m still shocked.

Dieting

There are lot of diet plans that work out there. Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, Atkins, etc. I am currently doing Nutrisystem and I have lost 12.7lbs on it. Their food is good but it is an expense I could live without. So although I got a 30 day plan, I have been stretching the days out by doing some of my own dinners and doing my own weekends.

I have newly resdiscovered my love for summer fruit (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and cherries) and salad as long as their is some form of protein in it.

The Weekend Plans

I slept almost 17 hours last night until this morning. I didn’t know I was tired but I must have been! I got up just before noon, showered and then took the pups to the dog park for 2 hours. It is so fun to see them playing with other dogs and well as together.

After the dog park I went to McD’s and got a grilled chicken caesar salad and came home. The dogs both got a stinky penis (beef pizzle) and currently Bruiser is sleeping and Elvis…well he’s fighting it and still chewing on his treat.

I have been doing pretty good in the weight loss department. I have lost 12.7lbs so far (without the use of weight loss pills, just eating right) and hopefully on Monday that number will go up as the scale goes down :)

Tomorrow I am going to go visit my Grandma and hopefully come back early enough to take my pups to the dogpark. It was too hot this past week to attempt a visit that I really want to get there tomorrow too.

That is my weekend in a nutshell. Pretty boring, but I’m happy with it all the same.

Heat Wave

I think I need a haircut, I’ve gotten into the easy (an lazy) routine of throwing my hair back in a pony tail more often than not. But in the summer, I’d rather have that option especially if the last few days (heat wave) is any representation of what our summer is going to be like.

Speaking of summer, this is the time I also shed like crazy. I have hair all over the bathroom and it is not fun to clean up either! I’m glad I know that I have hair seasons else I’d be looking for hair loss shampoos with the amount of hair I’m losing!

Today we got a break in the heat – I woke up to rain and a grey day. It has stopped raining and is trying to brighten up…hopefully the humidity will stay away and…the extreme heat.

Feed A Cold? Usually when people get sick they lose weight fast, though...

I went and saw Eclipse tonight with a couple of coworkers. It was a great chick flick and there were some funny scenes (read: cheesy) that the three of us would break out laughing.

While waiting for the movie to start, there was a preview for RED a movie about old (literally), ex-CIA agents who it appears never really researched for the best wrinkle cream (man or woman) since wow…some of these actors are really looking their age. Except for Bruce Willis, he is still looking good after all of these years.

Anyways, back to the Twilight Saga…when is the next one coming out? LOL

At work we have a great health care plan and also an employee assistance plan that includes financial and mental counselling. I pay $5 per prescription no matter the cost and have $1,000 a year to spend on massage, chiro, accupuncture, etc, etc. Oh and um…I’ve never used any of it except my prescriptions. I pay $0 for this.

At my old job we had a health savings account which was a measly $250 a year to go against medical benefits that they didn’t cover which was quite a bit.

I have it pretty good. What are your benefits like?
