I have two of these clocks (from IKEA of course), one being a recent addition to my new apartment. The other I have had for years and it sits here at my office desk keeping me in tune to the time of the day. It is orange (my favourite colour) and I’ve never had to replace the battery on it.
When people use my desk they comment on the clock and it’s ticking sound – to some it is too loud, but here at the office it is something that just blends with the office din.
But at home? I bought a nice white one for my bathroom so I know what time it is while getting ready for work. At night, laying in bed I can hear it’s constant ‘tick tock’ and lately, because I am not sleeping well, the sound is becoming unbearable. I swear the clock is sitting right by head rather than in another room next to the washroom. I can even hear it when I close the bedroom door…
Funny how much my senses are heightened when all I want to do is close off my ears and eyes and fall away into dreamland. Instead I am counting down the seconds with the clock.

Have you tried a white noise machine or (my fav) a humidifier? I even resort to ear plugs, a fan, or TV nearly turned down. I have dealt with insomnia off and on for 6 years. I hope it passes soon. I totally understand about the clock noise.
