Internet/Cable & Phone

My internet connection is pretty bad. I am not sure if it is Roges or my wireless. Unlike the United States, Canada only has a few companies that offer cable and internet services. We in Ontario seem to have only 3 cable company options: Shaw, Rogers and Cogeco – I think Hamilton has a small one called Southmount Cable. But still 3 cable companies and they each do not operate in the same area. So yes, I am stuck with Rogers unless I was to move to satellite. But satellite does not give me any internet :|

Often either through tv commercials or internet ads I get to see the lovely Verizon deals that Americans get and I usually get pretty jealous. I am paying a lot more for just two services where in some
Verizon bundles you are getting three!

It seems to be like that here in Canada, the cell phone and our crazily high priced plans is another great example. I rarely use my cell and would never think of chatting on it via MSN or other programs of the like…my bill would be horrendous. As it is I pay $40 for 200 local minutes, 100 text messages, call display and call answer. God forbid I hit the internet browser button on my phone as then they want my firstborn child!

So yes, sometimes I wish the American companies could come up here, especially when you see the great Verizon offers. Ah well…hopefully the government will step in at some time and stop the oligopolies.
