I have to get the pups in for their annual exam and heartworm meds but have been putting it off because of the cost – bad dog mama! I will call this week though. I brushed Elvis this morning as he is drowning my home in dog hair. I am tempted to get a paternity test done on him to find out besides pug what else he is as he is a shedding machine and has a bit longer hair than Bruiser.
I brushed him for about 10min and realize I need to do this daily if I am going to get his shedding under control. Next dog…either a non shedding one or a nekkid one!
Bruiser is my oldest pup @ 3 years, 4 months and I have had him since he was 10 weeks old. He is a puggle (beagle/pug cross) and an old soul. He is the perfect fit to me as he can be as lazy or as active as me. He does what I do.
As I work Monday to Friday, Bruiser knows my routine but do you think that stops him from pouting?
Not in the least. Notice that his ears are down, head down and he pretending not to look at me. If I were to come over to him, he would present me with his belly in hopes I will stay a while longer, or better yet – stay home and cuddle with him.
This weekend, the pups and I went to the dog park twice, getting back to our normal routine which is easier when the weather cooperates. The fenced in area was not mud but not completely dry either though neither needed baths, thank goodness :)
Also this weekend I cleaned, grocery shopped and framed some photos and art that I had laying round. I am waiting for my father to come down to hang the one set I I got as he’s much better at ensuring there are only the recommended holes in the walls not a few more because I cannot measure or get impatient :)
I paid hopefully my last ‘rent’ cheque on Friday – rumours are that the building will close this month. I cannot wait as it is stressfull trying to save money, help out family financially, pay off a $4K credit card (per mortgage approval agreement) and also try to save $4,100. Once I’m closed and paying a mortgage I can actually set up a budget and know where my finances are. Currently I’ve been in financial disarray since January (mortgage approval) trying to meat their expectations and my father’s.
Anywho…this is Elvis this weekend enjoying a pinecone.
I have posted a few times about what to do with a car that you aren’t using anymore or when the trade in value is such that it is not worth trading in (been there, done that!). One was to make a car donation to veterans which is a good idea but I just saw that you can now donate in the name of a pet!
If you’ve read my blog at all, you’ll know that the photo to your left is Bruiser my three year old puggle. He is my ‘old soul’ puppy and I picked him from a breeder. Then there is Elvis a 3/4 pug mix who is just shy of one (photo to the right). He loves people and if you pay him any ounce of attention he will be your new best friend.
So yes, if you are an animal lover like me you can make a spca car donation and feel good that you are helping to provide food, shelter and care for animals in need. I am not sure if there is a Canadian version of this, but if you’re living in the good U S of A, donate a car and help save a dog, cat or other household pet!
My youngest pup Elvis (pictured) has gone through 5 dog beds. Five! He seems to like to dig to china on them and then pull out the batting and make a lovely mess. In fact he has done this with 4 of my bed pillows (one feather…nice mess that made) and 1 couch decorative pillow.
After replacing the four bed pillows and ensuring they are up when I go to work, I notice that he now doesn’t use his dog bed at all anymore. He has no inclination to lay on it anymore preferring instead my bed.
His last bed cost me just over $50 and got a few uses out of it before he lost interest, wish I had known that was gonna happen. Would have saved some moolah!
Do you have dogs? Do they sleep in your bed or have their own? I wish I had enforced the dog bed thing with Bruiser as then I could do the same with Elvis. But Bruiser is almost 3 (Jan) and well, he likes sleeping under the covers.
